Have You Seen Her All In Gold?

Here are just a few images of some girls from the 1960's who have decked themselves out in gold. You cannot deny however that Shirley Eaton as Miss Jill Masterson from "Goldfinger" (1964) is the goddess of gold. In the film she is painted completely in gold by orders of "the man with the Midas Touch", Auric Goldfinger, and dies from apparent skin suffocation. Soon an urban myth spread that Eaton had actually died during the filming as a result of this, but it has been proven that skin suffocation cannot occur. However that is not to say that death cannot occur from having one's body completely painted. Death can occur as a result of the body not being able to regulate its temperature. In spite of this, there is no doubt that the image of Eaton painted in gold is one from the 1960's that will be remembered always.

I myself would have loved to have dressed myself all in gold for the post but unfortunately I opened my wardrobe and realized that I do not own any gold items of clothing.
Note to self: I must change this!

  1. BOND: Do you expect me to talk?
GOLDFINGER: No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Wow, dear Lucy! That jumbo picture of Shirley Eaton is striking and it goes uncannily well with the color scheme of your blog. That awesome image along with the video of the opening title sequence of Goldfinger instantly transported me back to age 15 and the night I went to see the movie at a theater upon its U.S. release in January 1965. I was totally blown away by the film. Goldfinger was the most sophisticated, adult, suspenseful, action packed and violent motion picture I had seen to date. The scene in which Bond discovers Jill's gilded body shortly after enjoying a romantic interlude with her is burned into my memory forever. I had never seen anything like it before.

Thanks for the memories, Lucy, and for another fabulous and colorful post. I hope to see you as a golden girl in the very near future. Have a wonderful Wednesday, dear friend!

    1. How wonderful that you were transported back in time! Thank you for sharing your memories - I really do love hearing stories from those who were actually there to experience how exciting everything was back then when it was just new and happening. From your memory it sounds like seeing "Goldfinger" for the first time back then would have been incredible. You have a wonderful week ahead Shady! xx

    1. Isn't it a spectacular dress? It must have been so revolutionary back then when Paco Rabanne first designed and released his metallic fashions.
Thank you very much - what a compliment! Silver clothes - I would love to see them! xx

  3. Amazing pictures! And now you pointed I realised I do no own anything in gold. Not even jewellery! I've always been more of a silver person (probably because I'm a natural blonde and the hair seemed yellow enough) but even when I dyed my hair dark I avoided gold items. Weird! I do love the picture of Twiggy (12)! xxx

    1. Haha funny how it takes us some time to realize just what we own when it comes to clothing and accessories! I am not too fond of silver jewellery, or gold for that fact, but I adore it when silver is with beautiful gemstones like amethyst or amber or rose quartz. Most of the jewellery I wear is plastic coloured beads or bangles, ha! xx

  4. Great pictures! I own one gold coloured dress but I haven't worn it for a few years as I feel like it doesn't suit my skintone, I do have a lot of gold jewellery though as I prefer it to silver x

  6. Fantastic! I haven't seen this Bond film - they never seem to show it on TV.
I too didn't own any gold (or pink) at all till last year before Christmas. I suddenly just wanted lots of gold and have been adding to my wardrobe things like rings and shoes.
I have some gold fabric ready for this party season!
