Here's something that I'm really digging at the moment, and I'm sure that you've seen it here and there before. I have always loved this picture of the three models in their geometrically patterned dresses. The blue dress on the left was always my favourite. I'd dream of having a dress like that. A few years later I discovered that all three of these dresses were designed by American fashion designer Betsey Johnson in 1966, for her Manhatten boutique, Paraphernalia. One of her gorgeous blue circle print dresses is now kept in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can see a better image of the dress here, as well as other dresses by Johnson and other 1960's fashion designers.
My favorite is the blue one too but i love the one with the diamond pattern too even i don't like so mutch this kind of green .
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely words on my last post!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the green one best!
Have a great day,

They're very lovely dresses, very simple and understated. I think the green one if my favourite, I seem to have a thing for green just lately! It my favourite shape too with the high neck.
ReplyDeleteGotta love Betsey Johnson, am I right or am I right? :)^^ I am in love with those models' hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteThe cool thing is that chevron is really 'in' right now (not that i really keep up with those things) and i'm kinda starting to dig it myself. making a simple yet bold dress like that sounds awesome, with longer sleeves for the cool and shorter for the heat right now. that image is so awesome! i love it!

It's strange isn't it, and funny to see how things evolve. That's why I don't follow trends and just wear whatever things I like. All fashion is these days (and for long enough really) is an altered repeat of styles from the past, just like you said with the chevron pattern on the girl's dress. So you can imagine how much nonsense I think it is when people are putting others down for wearing something in particular, and then the next season they are all wearing it themselves just because it has been declared 'in'!
Deletemy favorite is the same as yours...the one on the left!
ReplyDeleteWow, I wouldn't have guessed that these were Betsey Johnson styles! It's hard to choose but my favorite is either the green or the blue.. I like the green color but I like the pattern on the blue one.
ReplyDeleteThey are very different to her recent designs, aren't they? Couldn't quite believe it myself when I see how much has changed.
DeleteAaaah, those are beautiful! Way to go BJ! That navy and donut-hole-shaped print dress is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would probably have to be the green one, but they're all so beautiful. I love that they're not too fancy but still are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCasual and pretty is always good.
DeleteAww love it! Betsy's style is so different now compared to her 60s stuff. Its hard to believe she ever worked in such a restrained style. I often see her 70s sewing patterns for sale on Etsy but their not always my style.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's a real shock when you look at her designs from the different eras side by side!
