Strike A Pose!

Here is a selection of just a few of my favourite poses from some sixties dollies that I think are really groovy, and I hope that you think so too. The poses that models adopted in this time are so different to what models use today. I would have loved to have been a model back in those days, and one of the very first poses that sparked this little dream of mine is that of which Jenny Boyd is employing in this picture of her modeling the "D Dress"  by Marion Foale and Sally Tuffin. 

I can only dream.

There's A Red House Over Yonder

So much red! It is beginning to take over my life!

Outfit:

- Vintage red ribbed blouse

- Vintage cream coloured skirt with split in the leg

- Grey plaid cropped swing coat

- White tights

- Black mary-janes

- Black headband

- Black ring

It's been a while since I did an outfit post. Now that University has started back up again I'm just
a tad too busy to take a picture of what I wear for the day - but it's usually not much anyway, I'm almost always in too much of a rush to even do my signature makeup! Early this morning I attended my class for physical education in which I was required to run about a local sports centre in athletic clothes - something I don't feel too fabulous in. So when I went back to the University buildings in the afternoon for my theory classes I decided to get just a little bit more dolled up than usual to make myself feel just a little bit more fab than that morning. I also wore tights - haven't worn them in a while. I used to literally live in them, but the past year has been a hot one and after moving house I left my the majority of my colourful tights collection at my parents house. Though now I don't have the space for them. I'm hoping to make some when I get some free time. Or perhaps create some sort of storage for them in a box of some manner to keep in the cupboard.

This outfit today was inspired by the style of the beautiful woman Cynthia Lennon, in particular this 1965 image below photographed by Robert Whitaker. She is one of my absolute top fashion inspirations (as well as inspiration in general) and I believe she deserves a lot more recognition than she gets for her fabulous sense of style.

Go Ask Alice

The other day I was looking through some storage in our unit and came across this. I bought it just before we moved in from a little stationary shop, and upon seeing it for the first time I knew I had to have it. It is a journal, and I think the most perfect journal for me. It ticks all my boxes:

• hardback mustard yellow cover - check
• black and white vintage inspired print on the inner cover - check
• fantastic illustration of a fox (one of my very favourite animals) on the front - check
• name label on the first page that reads what my Grandma used to write in her books - check

What I also love is that the illustrations are very similar to my individual art style and remind me of the days several years ago when I was passionate about drawing. I bought it with the intention of filling it with my poetry and  illustrations, but I am in terrible in the way that I would only want to fill such a pretty book with the best of the best. I don't know if the day will ever come, but I sure do hope it does! Goodness me, I am still yet to write my name in it!

The journal is from an Australian made brand fabulously named "Ask Alice Stationary".
