I thought I'd share a little sneak peek at some of the vintage dresses that I've recently added to my collection, all of which are from the 1960's. The yellow one is Crimplene and was found sitting on a rack just moments before leaving the store it was in. I've been calling it the 'diner's dress', as all it makes me think of are pink diner stools and blueberry pie. The middle one I've nicknamed the 'Blue Hawaii' dress and the black one, a midi length dress, is intended to be cut and hemmed into a mini. I'm very pleased with these latest additions. The fact that they were all under $10 is an added bonus! You can see more of my vintage dress collection here, which now reaches 27!
That yellow dress is painfully cute. How did you get these for so cheap!?
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy with it! I suppose I was just very lucky this time around. The black one happened to be on sale in a charity shop in one of the 'duller' sides of town up north. The blue one was mistaken for a modern dress in a local charity shop that I frequent, and thus didn't have a price as high as they usually price the 'retro' clothing there, and the yellow one was found in a giant warehouse charity shop.
DeleteYou have such an eye at picking out vintage dresses! I haven't had so much luck before, but you have inspired me to look harder! That yellow one is very adorable, I can't wait to see how you style them.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I like to think I do! Over the years finding them has just become easier. I can scrape my way through clothing racks very quickly looking for key brands, tags, materials, clothing styles and zippers and such without much effort. I wish you the best of luck in finding some beautiful vintage goodies, though I must admit you seem to have amazing luck finding beautiful vintage cameras - something I never see myself!
DeleteThe collar on the yellow one is outstanding! Great finds all around!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThe yellow dress is adorable! I love the buttons down the middle and the two cute pockets! It's not a colour I could pull off but I admire it on those who can!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I usually don't feel like yellow is a colour that I can puff off well due to my complexion, but I couldn't leave it behind!
DeleteThat yellow dress is fab and it's my favourite fabric too! I can't believe how cheap you got all those dresses for as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm so happy with it - and I was glad to add another Crimplene dress to my growing collection!
DeleteWhat a lovely yellow dress! I bet it looks fabulous on you :)

Oh why thank you very much!
DeleteBrilliant finds! That yellow dress is way too cute! I only wish I could see the other two better.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anneka! I didn't realize how hidden the other dresses were until after uploading it - silly me! However, I am hoping to perhaps show them in a outfit post in the near future to make up for it!
DeleteWhat fantastic finds, I hope we'll get to see them modelled! It's amazing what can be found in charity shops with a little (or sometimes a lot!) of persistence!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope to showcase them soon if the weather works with me! And yes, persistence is key!
DeleteLove the yellow dress! Yellow is such a happy color... loving all the details too!

Deleteahh that yellow crimplene one is so cute! i definitely don't have as many genuine vintage as you do, but you have a magnificent collection otherwise!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, Cat! Thank you very much, I've worked hard at it to keep it growing and I am proud of it. But really, it has taken me about seven years to develop get it to where it is! So I suppose I'm not as lucky as I imagine I may seem sometimes haha!
DeleteClever post and such cute thrifty vintage finds! The yellow dress does remind me of a my waitress uniform I wore years ago with the handy pockets to slip the order pad & pen! The buttons and fabric pattern make it look way more chic though.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's the pockets which make me think of a waitress dress. And I love that they are 'real' pockets too. I can't stand it when dresses or skirts have pockets on them that are sewn shut. I can't wait to give it a wear!
DeleteOh my, that yellow dress is so pretty! It reminds me of The Boat That Rock, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! And know that I think of it it kind of gives me those vibes too.
