After almost six months I finally go back to my studies next week. Though times have been rough I am honestly quite glad to be going back. Time off is great but I believe there is such a thing as too much time off. I need structure, regularity and routine. Life has been chaotic as of late. Living back and forth between homes, looking after two very lively younglings and still trying to tame the overflowing wardrobe of mine. I've discovered that my favourites days as of late are those in which I can stick to plans and just get things done.
Don't quote me on that though. As mercurial as I am I may change my mind mid semester and just want to lie in bed all day with no cares, worries or deadlines. Kind of like 'Norris' here who surprised me the other morning upon waking. No, that's not actually her name. Anyone else like to christen their pets (and perhaps partners) with ridiculous titles that have no relevance or resemblance to their actual names? I'm notorious for it.
Good luck with your studies Lucy, I hope that things calm down for you now you are going back to a routine. I totally get where you're coming from with the name thing, I call my sister several names, none of which have any resemblence to her actual name! My boyfriend does the same thing with his sister's cat, Alice. We normally call her tiny bear, or bear on a chair as she always seems to be on one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah! So glad to know that I'm not the only one who does so with names - my sisters get that too! And 'tiny bear' sounds like the sweetest little nickname for a kitty.
DeleteLucy, I wish all the best for you in your studies!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes! We had a cat named Brownie, but sometimes we called her "Smudge" or "Pocahontas." I don't really know why, I guess we just liked goofy nicknames.
Thank you very much, Anna!
DeleteAnd yay for goofy nicknames, you gotta love them!
Such a sweet kitty. :) Good luck returning to your studies!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deleteah, such lovely photos with the contrasting colors, guitar and cute little kitty. this little one just made my day. and here's to getting back to schoolwork. i'm ready to be done with mine, as i've been at it most of the year, but i understand the structure thing (:
ReplyDeleteThanks, Abigail! And yes, structure can be such a good thing for the mind. I hope that you enjoy the last of your studies!
DeleteHello, dear Lucy in the Sky! I just now found your comment on my previous blog post and was elated to learn that you are still following me. I am happy and proud to return here as a regular reader after my long absence. You and I are similar. I typically need structure, regularity and routine to stay centered. I will not enjoy much of it this year because my life is also in chaos at the moment. I will soon be moving to another Florida city and the packing and preparation has already begun. I will be moving little by little in the coming months and it will become necessary for me to take more breaks from blogging, both short and long.
ReplyDeleteYour "Norris" reminds me of the hit TV commercial campaign that starred Morris the Finicky Cat. Do you remember him?

Thank you again, dear Lucy, for coming by SDMM and explaining where you've been. I value your ongoing friendship and support. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, dear friend!
Hi there, Shady! I do hope that your moving process goes as smoothly as it can and that you easily settle into your new home - all the best!
DeleteAnd thank you for sharing the commercial with me - I loved it, what a cute kitty!
Take care!
Good luck with your studies! Six months certainly is a long break, I can understand your discontentment as I too struggle without structure. I'm currently self employed and have ended up nocturnal as it's such a struggle to stay sensible in my habits when there's nothing pushing me to. It certainly does sound as though things have been chaotic, I hope things are able to calm down for you now!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Faye! Yes, it is. It wasn't intended to be so but due to reformatting of my degree throughout the country my break had to be extended. I am quite glad to be back now. I can really understand how that must be - I think I would be exactly the same in a position like yours! And thank you, I hope so too!
DeleteGood luck to you!! <3
ReplyDeleteHappy vibes
Thanks very much!
Deleteso sweet these little pictures!
ReplyDeleteYour kitty is so cute! Good luck with your studies! I am the same way, when I have too much time off I become restless, but then when I am busy busy all I want is to sit and do nothing at all. You can't win! haha xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, her cuteness makes silly little nicknames inevitable for her! And thanks, you are precisely right - it's either one or the other!
DeleteGood luck to you! And the kitty is too cute!!!

Thank you very much!
DeleteAhh to live the life of a cat! I do walk out the door some mornings and look back at my cat sleeping in the sunbeams with now care or worry in the world and wishing I were him. But therein lies the great part about being human - the never ending pursuit of knowledge which fills our heads with wonder and amazement at the world around us. Kitties just get scared and hide when they see new things! I know which i would rather. Good luck with Uni this year! xo
ReplyDeletep.s i love that bedspread!
Thank you, and you are right. What a brilliant outlook. There is much truth and positivity in it!
DeleteAnd yes, I adore it haha!
