She's Walking in the Sunshine Town Feeling Very Cool

As boring as it may sound, one of my favourite things to do when I've nothing to do is to get all dressed up in my dolly gear and just walk through the city. I like to imagine that as I wander through the streets and shops that I am almost half a century back in time and that I'm as fabulous as all those dolly birds way back when. It brings me to some sort of peace. I especially feel fab when I wear my big coats over a mini dress with a length shorter than that of the coat. Here I am wearing my favourite - a big green carpet coat with lace fringing the collar. Oh, how much I'd love to do this in Carnaby Street and King's Road one day. I am currently reading Pattie Boyd's autobiography "Wonderful Today" (finally got it! A gift from my mother!) and her descriptions of the swinging streets of London in those days just made me pine over the time and place all over again.

  1. Good day sunshine, dear Lucy! There's nothing wrong with using your imagination and pretending you're strolling the streets of the London fashion district of the mid 60s. I want you to realize, however, that you are every bit as fabulous as those famous dolly birds. If I may borrow the title and lyrics of a Marvin Gaye recording, "you're what's happening in the world today." You and other young vintagers are taking up the mantle, preserving a way of life and setting an example for others to follow. Please understand how powerful you really are, Lucy. I realize you're shy but you definitely have the qualities of a leader. I feel it thousands of miles away.

I hope you're in the midst of a wonderful Wednesday, dear friend, as my Tuesday draws to a close.

    1. Oh I do hope to sometime soon. It reminds me of something George Harrison would have worn for some reason. And thank you!

  6. Oh I so do it haha I put my headphone on and walk around listening to tracks from the 60s without looking at the other people and just walk walk and walk! I'm lucky enough to be able to do it at Carnaby and King's Road but I honestly do it everywhere! I hope you're enjoying Pattie's book, I loved it! xxx

  7. I seriously do that too! every time i go to get my hair done in the city, i get all dolled up and walk around with my 60s playlist on my ipod. Add record or vintage shopping into that and you could totally close your eyes and think is 1965!
Patties description is so good. I book marked that section!
