Today I took a walk along the seaside; something I haven't done in a while though I live so close, and something that I much prefer to do when the weather is overcast. To me the ocean is much more beautiful when the wind is sharp and the world has been paled by the seemingly endless cover of clouds. On days like this I sometimes would go and sit on the shore's edge along the empty beach and just be at peace with the calming repetition of the waves' pattern and breathe in the scents of salt and sand. Beautiful.

I love your bag! And this looks like a lovely place for a walk, I wish the seaside was closer to me. How's the weather there? I hope not too bad to enjoy more days out like this! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe weather was my favourite - overcast. I love dreary weather. The type where there is so much cloud cover that you can't see any shadows but not dark enough to give the illusion that it is getting late. And thank you! xxx
DeleteThese are excellent pictures, Lucy, and I hope everyone takes time to enlarge and examine the swirling surf and rock formations. One of my most pleasant memories is of a rainy, windy day at the seashore. Most vacationers at that beach town were disappointed by the inclement weather but it gave me an opportunity to slow down the pace of life and soak up the atmosphere, much the same as you described here. It is both invigorating and soothing to feel the chilly wind and salt spray on your face, take deep breaths and let your thoughts drift with the tide. It makes me happy to know that you experienced those peaceful seaside moments and that you shared them with me in words and pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and what a beautifully pleasant memory. I'm very glad that this post brought back those memories for you, and also glad too for the fact that there are others out there like me who enjoy 'terrible weather'.
DeleteIt looks like a wonderful day to visit the beach. Also your bag is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteBeautiful photos! back in the days when I used to surf and I was at the beach every weekend, my favourite thing to do was sit on the sand all rugged up with jumpers and watch storms come in and the ocean and clouds have a fight over who was more dramatic.
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine! Ooh that sounds both beautiful and lovely. Though I've been at the beach whilst it has been storming and raining, I've never sat and actually watched a storm come in. That is definitely something I shall have to do one day!
