This afternoon I decided to play dress up again. So far I've been Edie Sedgwick, Twiggy and Marianne Faithfull, but this time I decided to prance around the house as Pattie Boyd playing the darling school girl from The Beatles' first film, "A Hard Day's Night". Oh how much fun it would have been to be in her place way back in 1964 and having the opportunity to meet and befriend The Beatles on set, not to mention being a fab British model. Ever since first seeing her many years ago whilst watching the film for the first time I wished I were as pretty and fabulous as her. Unfortunately I no longer have my Pattie hair like I did a couple of years ago (now I've opted for a Marianne Faithfull x Maureen Starkey look), but I gave it my best shot!
Outfit:
- white peter pan collar blouse
- the boys black tie
- tweed mini dress with matching belt
- white stockings
- black kitten heels with bows
Oh you've done such a great job, I can definitely see the resemblence to Pattie! I just love your dress as well x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, that is a very big compliment to me! xx
DeleteYou look adorable, just like Pattie! I accidentally did something similar, took some pictures that ended up looking like I'm reproducing The Girl on a Motorcycle but I didn't post them on my blog.. And about the Beatles glasses, I'm using them! I can't stand not using things haha xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh thank you! You should definitely post the pictures, I'm sure they look great. Great you are using the glasses too - I should follow your example! xxx
DeleteOh you look fab! Just like Pattie! She's so pretty and you've replicated it so well with such a cute outfit! I'll have to look for your Edie one. I made an Edie style dress once years ago
ReplyDeleteThank you! And I'd love to see the Edie dress you made.
DeleteI had to go visit myself from 2009, but here it is! http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/my-girl-edie?image=30892
DeleteOh my goodness you talented girl, you! It looks just like Edie's dress! Fantastic job!
DeleteThis brings to mind the American recording "Lucy in Disguise" by John Fred & the Playboy Band! :) It also brings to mind the mid 60s English film The Knack... and How to Get It, because you've got the look and the knack for putting together fabulous outfits, hair and make-up. If my opinion counts I think you are every bit as pretty and fabulous as Pattie. The only thing that would have made the illusion more real would have been a Photoshopped image of George next to you. Good night, dear Lucy, and have a happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteTo clear up any confusion that might have resulted from my "Lucy in Disguise" reference, John Fred was a big fan of the Beatles and was inspired to write his hit song "Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)" after listening to "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds." However, Fred misheard the Beatles' lyrics, believing the Fab Four were singing "Lucy in disguise..." He was disappointed when he learned the actual words to the song. :)
DeleteThank you very much, reading this made me very happy! Yes, I am aware of the song, and like it very much. If the real lyrics of The Beatles' song were "Lucy in disguise" it would have been nice, but you can't beat "Lucy in the sky". I find it somewhat humorous too. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeletePlaying dress up is so much fun!
ReplyDeletePeace & love
I know, I enjoy it very much! When the boy and I get better organised I would like to play dress up on a better level, and actually try and replicate my favourite 1960's modelling pictures.
DeleteYou do look ever so similar!
