For a while now I've been wanting to do a post on my vanity table, or dressing table. I love seeing what is on other people's dressing tables, so I wanted to show my own.
At last I have gotten around to doing so.
Last year whilst we were looking for furniture for our future place we stumbled upon this beauty. I've always wanted a vanity. Ever since I was a tiny little girl. So I jumped at the chance to buy it, and for a very reasonable price, too, I couldn't leave it behind for someone else to snatch up. In the next few months for Christmas my mother actually bought me the matching jewelry stand for it, so I am very pleased that it has some company.
However, it had been missing a stool. Temporarily I used a little metal stool with a white fluffy cushion on top from my parents house, but it did not feel quite right. Then one day whilst out driving with my mother and sister I spotted something on the side of the road. It had obviously been discarded by somebody as it was amongst a pile of broken shelving and plates. I made them pull up of course, and lo and behold, there was my perfect vanity stool - vintage with beautiful dusted rose coloured cushioning. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Now each morning I love to sit at my vanity in my vintage satin dressing down and pretend that I am as fabulous as my favourite ladies from the past.
Inside these drawers I keep my stockings, tights and socks, and in the other my makeup.
This vanity set was given to me as a gift from the boy. It is perfect and each item has such a nice weight to it. It is funny too in the sense that for years I had wanted to receive my first vanity set when I turned 21. Without knowing this the boy bought this lovely set for me in perfect timing.
Here you can see the vintage glass love heart and perfume bottle that the boy bought for me from this post. Also pictured is the newest addition to my vanity. I bought it yesterday, the shopkeeper titling it "the smallest picture frame in the world". I'm currently wondering what to use it to frame.
A vintage cameo pill box. I can't quite remember where it was that I got this from.
For a while now I've been using this new compact. I have no clue of what the brand is but it is the most perfect powder I've ever used. Would anybody happen to know? The look of it is a bonus too, I feel it has a vintage look to it.
A piece of rose quartz nestled upon a tiny vintage glass vase from my mother. The atomizer is also from her. The bottle next it is from my Great Uncle, who used to collect used perfume and cologne bottles during his lifetime. I found it in the garden once whilst visiting my Grandmother's home.
As I mentioned earlier, I love seeing what is on other people's dressing tables. So I thought I share some images of lovely ladies at their vanities that I find inspiring.
Your dressing table is lovely! And so organised it makes me embarrassed of mine..! I might share it anyway but you'll know what I mean when I say it's not a proper dressing table. The images are amazing, I also love to see what people having on their dressing tables (and bags, and wardrobes, and cabinets). I guess I'm just very curious! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh I'd very much love to see! Call me just as curious! xxx
DeleteIt's elegant! Exquisite!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you!
DeleteYour vanity is absolutely gorgeous! Mine is just a boring old desk I bought and added a mirror to myself.. not so pretty, but I am on the lookout for a new one! Sadly my house and decor is fairly dark and woody, so it can be a bit hard to find something to match, especially when most seem to be pretty and white!
ReplyDeleteI love the collection of others that you posted too.. so many pretties!
xx
Thank you! I'm sure yours is just gorgeous - anything can be made beautiful. I know what you mean about finding something to match all your furniture - in all honesty though, my furniture is dark and woody too, the vanity not matching at all! I just liked it too much!
DeleteWhat a beautiful vanity table. Everything looks like it belongs there & it's all so pretty. I love seeing other peoples rooms & wardrobes etc as well. You must feel rather glamorous sitting & doing your makeup. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, and yes it is amazing how something as simple as a sitting at a pretty table and chair can make you feel glamorous!
DeleteLove!
ReplyDeleteThanks doll!
Deleteoh everything is so pretty! and its nice that your surrounded by things that are special to you. My sister and I had a little vanity when we were little, but we just used to sit there and play with toy-make up and it was always messy. I stand to put my make up on - so not as glamorous as yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine! I love to have things like that close to me. I am an extremely sentimental person (which also makes me a magnificent hoarder!). It must have been so much fun to have that with your sister whilst growing up. I know I would have loved that!
DeleteYour vanity table is lovely! I've had a dressing table for years but I'm currently looking for a new (old) one as I would love a 60s G-plan one, mine often doubles as a sewing table too so it's not nearly as glam as yours! x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! Good luck in finding your dream vanity - it's out there! If I had to have another I would definitely opt for a 60's one too.
Deleteoh this vanity table is a dream!!! i really adore it. it is perfect. i still haven't found one for me.
ReplyDeletelots of love and kiss,mary
