Boudoir Beauties

Here are some pretty things that I have acquired recently. Almost all vintage and coloured with a dreamy pastel pink colour.

The vintage dressing gown was a steal for only $2.00. There is no sash to tie it up so I am on the look out for some nice soft ribbon that matches the colour of it closely enough to do the job. The lace sleeves and back of the gown are so beautiful and delicate. I will feel oh so glamorous lazing around the house in this beauty once I find a replacement sash for it.

The vintage beauty travel case was a gift from my mother. When she got it it needed quite a bit of cleaning, but after wiping it over with a wipe I managed to scrub the stains off of it so that it now looks nearly as good as new. With a little love and care you can make something quite beautiful, you see? Inside the lining is a lovely pink colour and in their little places are most of the original beauty containers, which still smell of old creams and such from the last lady who had the case in her possession. However, the two clear bottles are new, replacing the originals that must have been lost or damaged over time. What a pity. But there was something else inside it that made up for it: a vintage hat pin - my first to own. You can't quite tell from the picture, but the pearl too is a dreamy pink colour.

Quite lovely things indeed. I think that they shall look rather nice in my little hoped for dressing room when the boy and I find another unit to live in.

  2. These articles are indeed a dreamy shade and style, dear Lucy, and you and the boy can look forward to finding a new flat this year and designing your new space to please you most.

You made a key statement here:

<< I will feel oh so glamorous lazing around the house in this beauty >>

This is important. When you are home alone and no one is around to see what you're wearing or how you look, it can be powerful to clean yourself up, wear something nice, fix your hair and makeup and spray on your favorite scent. You wouldn't have to do any of that and yet you do it for YOU, because you're worth it. It is an exercise that boosts self esteem. When you look your best it enables you to feel your best and have a more positive outlook.

Good night, dear Lucy, and have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I am all for your words and I see a lot of truth in them. Believe me there are days when I want to laze in my pyjamas all day, but nothing beats getting all dollied up just to do something as simple as listening to my records all day.

  4. Such lovely finds! I'm completely with you on the magic of cleaning things up, I've found some absolute treasures for a steal before now because they'd been unloved for a long time and covered in grime, but a good careful clean and they're perfect again. My best find was an original 70's Paddington Bear which I got for free because he was so dirty (and nude!) he was unrecognisable to most. Now he's back to his best and I treasure him.

I hope you're able to find a new place to live soon, there's nothing like having your own space, especially with a special someone.

    1. Thank you! Yes, definitely. There is always going to be someone out there who see treasure in things that others cast away. How exciting to find the 70's Paddington Bear and that you cleaned him up well. I'd love to see how he is looking now.
And thank you for your words. We are on the lookout for a place now!

    1. Yes, must never overlook the nightwear section! So many lovelies can be found there. I actually found a beautiful 60's nightgown yesterday that I'm hoping to include in a post soon. Haha I would do the same thing to be honest, the things are so sweet and pretty no one who didn't know would notice!
